Frank: Both png.h and pngconf.h are in /usr/pkg/include/libpng16 on my 
system. This is not part of the standard path, hence the reason for 
stating CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/pkg/include" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/pkg/lib" during 
configuration. Configure claimed to find png.h, so I'm trusting that.

Jose: My png libraries are at /usr/pkg/lib/libpng16.a and 
/usr/pkg/lib/libpng16.so.16.16.0 here. As I noted, I can see that both 
have the function in question when I check with nm.

My end goal is to update the package used on NetBSD, as it's currently 
stuck in 2012.
