Just to clarify, the text of the bug report is perhaps not super 
clear, but this attachment and Attachment 1268: Patch to fix for Mac 
OS X https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=1268&action=edit 
are mutual exclusive. I would suggest you only commit this patch (for 
both Cygwin and Mac OS X) but I offered the Mac OS X only patch in 
case you wanted something less invasive.

Unfortunately, the text of the bug report is not currently readable
