Release update
--------------
Kevin has committed patches to the tree for fixes that are targeted
for the release.  Remaining bugs were moved to be listed against 
the documentation bug.  Kevin also integrated patch to add libXaw
major version 8 and had Roland perform some testing - there were
a few issues to work out.  This took longer than expected, but
people are now starting to perform some build testing.  Kevin has
also been working on documentation;  Egbert also sent some notes
to Kevin for inclusion.  Kevin is able to build all of the
documentation, but still needs to check them in after some discussion
here.  

Kevin did consult with Keith on the rootless problem that has been
previously discussed here.  Kevin had previously put together a patch,
but Keith suggested an alternate fix that Torrey has tested and had
some success with.  This fix will be included in the release.

There have been 2-3 requests for additional patches to get in,
but Kevin feels that it's too late.  Egbert asked if they were
blockers.  One of them was the dpms header file change.  People
didn't feel they were blockers.  As much as people want to be
accommodating, they feel it is unsafe to be pulling in more 
changes at this late date.


Documentation
-------------
Kevin has updated most of the documentation that is outside of
the "doc" directory.  There are still documentation changes
that need to be made (build, release notes, README).  Kevin is
hoping to get all of that in by COB today.  Kevin asked if anyone
knows of other documentation that needs to be updated for this
release.  Everything in the tree that was R6.7 is now R6.8.
Kevin is also going to document that the old keyboard driver is
now deprecated.  There are still a few more documentation updates
pending, but Kevin would appreciate help from anyone else today
that has bandwidth.


Finalize the release
--------------------
Kevin would like to be able to apply another tag to the tree
today, assuming all of the documentation gets done today.  If he
can't complete the documentation by 6:00 PM EDT, it will have to
wait until Monday evening.
