I'd just like to clarify this: I'm *not* talking about removing it, just
excluding it from the release schedule.

I think less apps are Xaw than you think. There are quite a few - and I
don't underestimate the amount of proprietary UNIX apps that run on Xaw
- but I think you're overestimating it a little.
