Xserver Config file

Hello All, 

I'm just wondering if there is a possibility to have a config file for
the xserver? What i want to do is to switch the Xserver globally to
Xvesa (e.g. replace XFree86 with a symlink to Xvesa) but than i can't
change the resolution or add other settings to Xvesa.
