What I did was take Xizzle's build infrastructure (the Makefile.am's and configure.ac stuff, mainly), and dump the X11R6.7 *code* on top of this. Basically eliminating all the misguided code changes I did; all the changes are basically in modularDefs.h, or documented in hw/xorg/CHANGES. Xorg has been moved to the new DIX - that's what hw/xorg is.
