XKB issues and something else

Howdy, I'm really pleased with what I've seen of the xserver this far. Things run smoothly, and IMHO there's a better feel to it all than with XFree 4.3.99 as my distribution pre-supplied. My only problem this far, except from ati drivers and/or fbdev drivers being a bit untamed (vesa does the job now, no need for acceleration yet, although it would be cool. DRI didn't like being compiled, either), is that the XKB extension is not found by GNOME. It tells me that the extension just isn't there (the error message isn't anything special, there's just that it says XKB is unavailable, and I don't want to change terminals, because that has made the server die :P ). The result is that I get my console keymap, which is a tad annoying. Of course I can change it from there, but it's not a solution to the problem. So, is XKB just unexistant or nonworking (I think I saw it in the source tree though), or could someone please point me in the right direction of where to find something to hack on? Or might it be GNOME that is not compliant with what it should be? The "something else" is just that I wanted to tell you that everything regarding the xserver compiles perfectly using distcc (distcc.samba.org). There shouldn't be problems, but sometimes there are, and now there weren't. I hope it stays that way. Christoffer
