I had the same problem...until I read the instructions again ;)
Update the autotools to the required versions and everything should 
compile fine (on RH9 simply recompile the respective automake and 
libtool source-rpm versions). While things are a bit slow 
(understandably) but it's cool to run a half-transparent mplayer over an 
xterm 8)

Are there any "tricks" to make this run faster on a Radeon 9500pro?
