xserver and enlightenment issues

enlightenment 0.16.6 causes the xserver to have
conniption fits.
First, without the composition manager, child windows
are full of garbage and in 32 bits, lots of color
problems.
With the composition manager, everything goes black
except the cursor, which still responds to windows. If
you can manage to find a resize handle, the resize
guidlines do get drawn
Of course, this happens only if enlightenment doesn't
crash the xserver on startup, which it occasionally
does. Other seemingly random crashes occur too.
However, shading a window reliably crashes the
xserver.
More Info:
Crashes on line 1449 of damage.c in
damagePaintWindow
Seems that *(pScreen->GetWindowPixmap) which
points to _fbGetWindowPixmap returns a bogus drawable
with an invalid defPrivates.
This is accesed by the macro damageGetPixPriv and
segfaults here.
other crashes are not so reproducable.
I know enlightenment will tax any xserver and all it's
complexity makes debugging the xserver under it nearly
impossible, but I would really like to see this get
running. After all, an eye-candy xserver must be able
to run THE eye-candy window-manager
let me know your opinions as I try to decipher some of
these problems
