Since no one is going to force you to upgrade from the existing Xfree86 just keep using it. The purpose of doing xserver is to exploit new features of new hardware. If you want excellent support of ancient hardware continure to use Xfree86, it's not going to disappear. The engineering time and effort require to support five year old hardware in the time frame when xserver is going to be deployed is simply not worth it. Why spend $300K of engineering time supporting something when a modern 3D card can be had for $29? Is the total world-wide pile of these old graphic cards even worth $300K? Of course you can always implement drivers for these ancient cards yourself, that's the beauty of Open Source. ===== Jon Smirl jonsmirl-/[email protected] __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
