weird keyboard problem

hi i just compile install the xserver, it runs fine ! but i got a weird problem my keyboard layout is good (french iso with accents) but i can't use the 'shift' key when pressing 'shit g' i don't got a "big g" (i'm typing under xserver ;) anyone got a clue ,, thanks in advance thomas klein
