When I use Xig on two heads, it is fast Probably radeon, just as it's a very common choice that does two heads :-) and on Radeon, Xinerama means no DRI -> means MMIO use of the card instead of using the CP/DMA approach -> seems to have slower 2d accel. The extra repainting when you drag windows from one screen to the other also contributes to a subjective feeling of slowness. Or maybe MergedFB just has a really solid placebo effect (espescially as it eliminates the invalidate/repaint when a drag crosses the boundary). It does seem quicker on my 7500, but I've learned from long experience not to commit to claims like that without some numbers too :-) > just to satisfy my curiosity, on what hardware is this? > > -- jj
