Possible memory leak in xserver

I recently installed xserver (as per the install documentation using gcc 3.3) as a drop in replacement for the XFree86 binary on a Gentoo system. I'm using the Xvesa binary with Gnome 2.4.1. There seems to be a pretty severe memory leak that is possibly related to video/mpeg playback. It occurs both with Totem and mplayer. The xserver will consume huge amounts of vm space, completing monopolizing my swap space. I just played about 10 minutes of a sample video in Totem, and X's memory usage exploded: $ ps aux |grep "X :0" root 21862 1.7 22.8 153304 51176 tty1 S Mar05 17:02 /etc/X11/X :0 -mode 0x011B -mouse /dev/psaux,5 -deferglyphs 16 bk 3298 0.0 0.2 1520 504 pts/1 S 15:03 0:00 grep X :0 Note the 153MB+ memory in use by X. I've had it use as much as 450MB (most of my swap space) before killing it. The x server is the only process running using such a huge amount of memory. X server was checked out on the night of 3/4-3/5. bk -- b. keroack <bker(at)yage.net> <ben_k(at)riseup.net> PGP/GPG Cryptography Public Key: http://search.keyserver.net:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x0E99BE92
