After a little furthur investigation, killing and restarting xcompmgr will
cause most of the memory to be freed. However, the "leak" continues as usual
afterwards.
Also it seems that while video playback accelerates the problem, it is
mainly a linear function of time. As it is, I need to either restart X or
xcompmgr every 24-36 hours, even though most of that time is spent idle.
If anybody can point me towards some way to figure out where this memory is
going, I'd appreciate it.
