Neophyte seeking assistance

    I scoured the SourceForge boards and found that a few other people 
have experienced a problem similar to mine.  When I boot my PC to the 
AdvanceCD, everything works fine until I select a game.  AdvanceCD 
says it is loading the game, but it has in fact locked the computer.  
I saw a message on SourceForge that suggested trying a game like 
StarWars, but that game produces the same effect, as does selecting 
one of the three games that comes with AdvanceCD.
    I am running a Kaser M64-32A video card (yes, I know it's cheap, 
but I'm building a MAME arcade machine to run the classics, so I don't 
need stunning 3D renderings).  The chipset is a nVidia Riva TNT2 M64 
with 32MB of memory.  Running the detecthw.exe in the support 
directory tells me that my video card *is* supported.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for your time and 
consideration.
