RE: Rivafb under mandrake 10.0 again!

You need to set a graphical framebuffer mode when launching the
kernel...I've never run rivafb drivers and I lean toward GRUB, so I'm
not sure of the specifics, but you'll have a line in your LILO
configuration file like:

     vga = 0x312
     append = "video=riva:vesa:0x112"

Neither of those lines are probably quite right, since I'm guessing, but
you should have documentation more specific to the rivafb in the fb
directory of your linux source (something like
"/usr/src/linux/Documentation/fb").

Yup.  Look at that last part on my email:

10.  move your new kernel to boot from it:
"cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/XXXNewKernelXXX"
...THEN.....
If you are using lilo (which I am) you need to edit your /etc/lilo.conf
to
have a new section for /boot/XXXNewKernelXXX and set it as default.
After
you have edited it, issue "lilo" to get it into the boot loader.

Of course XXXNewKernelXXX can be whatever name you give it.  Don't
forget to 
type "lilo" on the command prompt...you should see something like this:

Wacksides:~# lilo
Added Linux
Added Kernel268
Added Kernel268-A *
Added Kernel267
Added Kernel267-2
Added WacksidesKernel
Added Kernel2421
Added Kernel264
Skipping /vmlinuz.old

..."Kernel268-A" being the default kernel...in your case (if you
followed my 
directions to the letter) it should be XXXNewKernelXXX
