To NPTL or not to NPTL

What form of threading management is best for Advance* under Linux ?

I've been noticing some strange issues with sound emulation (speed up
and speed down)  I'm wondering if this is due to the way that glibc
w/NPTL processes the kernel threads?

Thoughts?
