Andrea,

Thanks for the suggestions, i first tried the sync_resample emulation option and that actually slowed down emulation as a whole. I then commented out the statement in target.c since i am using 2.6.x and it actually acted the same as if i were using the "sync_resample emulation" option.

it's probably a problem with the alsa system.

If you are not using the SMP support and/or the SDL library, it should
not matter.

All the processing is done in only one process without using threads.

For the sound problems, if you are using a 2.6 kernel, try 
to clear the body of the target_usleep() function in
the advance/linux/target.c file (make the function empty).
This is the main difference from the 2.4 and 2.6 kernel.
