First of all, are you using DOS (ie Win98) or Linux?

Secondly, why would you need to run the script from advmenu? I have a
setup running Linux, which powers on the monitor as soon as it has been
set to a resonable mode (using a Matrox G400 with framebuffer). I have
recently gotten the gentoo bootsplash working, so I have a nice progress
bar while booting, and nice custom graphics.
