If I am not mistaken the newer sound blaster live cards are 24 bit cards and 
the older ones are 16 bit cards.  They probably should have changed the name 
because they aren't the same card.  I have been able to get the older ones 
to work in dos advmame but not the newer ones.
Although I haven't tested it, around version .92 they fixed the ac97 support 
in dos advmame.
