Hello everybody!
I´m trying to migrate from svgalib-1.9.19 to framebuffer support about some months and without a success.
On this time, I upgraded my MandrakeLinux 10.1 (kernel 2.6.8) to Mandriva Limited Edition 2005 (kernel 2.6.11) to try
this new kernel.
For a first time, I did a 'modinfo rivafb' and the module returned all supported video cards in a string called "alias" with
the correct PCI id. At this point, my videocard was listed by the module. So, I recompiled the kernel and disable only
the VESA driver and VGA 16 driver and all other drivers I build into the kernel.
I think these are the correct steps to recompile the kernel, allright? If not, please correct me!
- make mrproper
- make oldconfig
- make menuconfig
- disable VESA driver
- make all
- make install
- make modules_install
Ok, when I rebooted and loaded the new kernel, I got blank screen and the system stops. I´m using the lilo "vga"
parameter "vga=788". My videocard is a Geforce 4 MX Integrated (10de:01f0). It´s strange because it´s listed but it not works.
When using a riva TNT2 M64 PCI, I got screen, but the system hangs up when trying to load your modules. Probabily
I´m missing some kernel install parameters, allright?
Please somebody help me! I´m trying to use framebuffer and until now, without a success.
Keep mailing!!!
