Advmess usage

Hi,

I can not figure out how to use advmess.
I have RTFM but my command does not work :
advmess gen_usa -cart sonic.bin

with sonic.bin in :
 current directory
 ~/.advance/image
 ~/.advance/rom

Nothing is working.

Can you hel me please ?
