Disable sound and video recording

Hi All,
I want to disable sound and video recording in Advmame 0.94.
I changed the .rc lines
record_sound no
record_video no
This stops the file being saved in SNAP directory, but the recording
message still comes up on the screen. This is very annoynig for me
since the player 1 fire (lctrl) and p3 fire (enter) are close on my
panel, and it is easy to hit them togeather.
Can I disable recording so that the message never appears?
