cant get advmenu to work on arcade monitor

I am using advmenu 2.4.1 and advmame .95 in dos on an arcade monitor. I can 
run games fine with advmame having used the advcfg.exe, but when I tried to 
run advmenu having configured it the same way it says there are no supported 
video modes for my configuration. How do I make it work?
