Unless you're using some really weirdo distro, SDL will be installed
already. Just download advancemame and install it. The in the monitor
section of your x configuration file you need to change the monitor
HorizSync and VertRefresh as shown below
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "MyMonitor"
VendorName "Mitsubisi"
ModelName "Diamond Plus 120u"
# be sure to replace these values with values appropriate for your
# monitor!
HorizSync 15.5 - 15.75
VertRefresh 47 - 63
# 320x240x60.00 @ 15.750kHz
Modeline "640x240x60.11" 12.096000 640 656 720 768 240 244 247 262
-HSync -VSync
EndSection
in the device section you should also add Option "IgnoreEDID" as shown
below
Section "Device"
Identifier "NV AGP"
VendorName "nvidia"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "IgnoreEDID"
# update this with the PCI id of your card. Consult the output
# of the 'lspci' command. The BusID is usually optional when
# only using one graphics card.
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection
Then download lrmc to your home directory and run the following commands
cd
tar xvzf lrmc*gz
cd lrmc*/
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
su
make install
exit
Calculate all your modelines using the highplclock option and add them to
your monitor section, as above.
Add the name of your favorite modeline to your Screen section under the
default mode as shown below
Section "Screen"
# Option "IgnoreEDID"
Identifier "Screen AGP"
Device "NV AGP"
Monitor "MyMonitor"
DefaultColorDepth 24
Subsection "Display"
Depth 8
Modes "640x240x60.11"
EndSubsection
Subsection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "640x240x60.11"
EndSubsection
Subsection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "640x240x60.11"
EndSubsection
EndSection
startx, game on.
