trouble with sound and advmenu issues

Hi all,

I now have my sound card working in dos its an ensoniq pci card. When I run arcadeos I get thes tartup and shutdown sounds using the soundblaster option. However I get no sound in advmenu or in advmame. I have tried the advs program suing one of the arcadeos wavs with all device_sound combinations and I never get any sound. Any ideas anyone...?

Also in advmenu it lists the games ok but when I press return to play one nothing happens it jsut appears to hang..ctrl alt del takes me back to the dos prompt.

Finally when I try and run a game manually from the prompt (advmame commando) it takes a age to load up (still no sound).

any help greatly appreciated...I seem to be going backwards trying to get this set up!

My cabinet has a Wells Gardner monitor with an ArcadeVGA card.  I have set 
up Advance mame for raster games like Pacman, Digdug, Galaga, etc.  However, 
when I try to play a vector game like Tempest or Asteroids, I can't see half 
the screen.  Does anybody have  advmame.rc settings for these games?

Does anyone have a desire to setup a place on sourceforge where you can 
contribute (and download) configuration files that work with common hardware 
configurations and games?  I think this would be very helpful.

For those of you running a configuration like mine, here are the settings
