Hi scores written but cannot be read!?

Hi everyone, I have a problem with my cabinet,
I've just recompiled the latest advancemame (v106) for linux, setup my
modelines for my WG9200
and everything works great except for my hiscores...

I tested blktiger and did a highscore, entered my initials, waited for
the intro to come back, then exited the game.
When I replayed blktiger the high scores are the default ones.

There's nothing in my  ~/.advance/hi

and the line

misc_hiscorefile hiscore.dat

is indeed present in  ~/.advance/advmame.rc so everything should be fine no?
(The hiscore.dat file is also in ~/.advance directory, and the cheats
are disabled in my advamame.rc)


Anybody had any similar problems?
