I use multiple sessions. I rarely actually play any mud, instead I'm quite often logged to a single mud with two users, one being my primary user (developer) and the other a test character. With this setup, the current system works well enough when snoop is on. When one wants to *play* another mud while idling (or something) on another, the system you describe sounds far better. > <snip> > summary: 10k characters on a line is slow, much much slower than 10 chars > on a thousand lines. > </snip> > <...snip...> > Could you try this without any of your own regexps loaded (or confirm you > didn't have any of your own regexps loaded) so we can be sure the bad regexp > is in the core code? The only regexp I've changed is SEMI_REGEXP in utils.py, which is the command separator. However, since I've made some other local hacks, I also tested this on the 4.1.1-release as well as CVS version (checked out yesterday), and the problem persists.
