Whoops--I got that all mixed up.  Just to clarify, I meant to say that 
Lyntin is creating the alias in the common session, but after the med 
session has been created and copied what's in the common session over.  So 
the alias never makes it to the med session.

  Other way around - the snoop[1] suggests that the alias is being
created in the common session, but AFTER the med session is created
(and focused).
[1] [common]# alias: {mon} {clanwhere} added.

  Settings from the common session are only inherited by other sessions
on creation, right?
