The planet hats indicate how good of a planet it currently is. You'll
get a nice white hat, a grey hat, or a tattered brown hat. It factors in
gravity and temp. It does not correlate to eventual profit. You can have
a white hat on an extremely low or high gravity planet if the temp is
really close to 72, but it will still only make under $1000 a turn and
take forever to get up to that. You can also get a grey hat on a 1g
world with real high or low temp, which after terraforming will quickly
get you over $30,000 a turn.

Subject: [ho5palm] Planet's hats?

I'm curious... Do the hats on the planets signify something of
wealth? I have some planets that have a nice looking silverish hat on
it, while another planet that's just as nice as the other one has a
brown hat with holes in them.
