I believe ia64 supported both kind=10 and kind=16.  kind=16 is emulated.  The
gcc ia64 target for HP-UX is more or less obsolete.  HP implemented a full set
of C99
math functions in HP-UX 11i v3, so probably no additional support is needed for
it.
For example, for the cosine function, there are cos, cosf, cosw, cosl and cosq:

I believe the hardware supported 10-byte extended precision.  The quad and long
double
types are the same on ia64 and emulated.

The hppa target for HP-UX will never support kind=10, so some simplification
may be possible.
