ct-ng freezes, locks up, at line 261 (?)

Hello list. I've just started trying to use ct-NG and I'm having problems
building a toolchain. Here's screen output:

I understand that the Warning messages are coming from make because ct-NG
is a Makefile. I don't understand whether the long duration of tasks (or
complete failure to finish, as here) is normal or not. My goal is to build
crosstools that will compile code to run on Cygwin, so iirc that's the
"host"? - and  this toolchain will be running on Gnu/Linux. I''m running
LMDE (Debian release version 12.1).
