It appears that this build was running tests on qemu that doesn't seem to support the same signal handling behaviour for SME as would the kernel that supports SME. On a system that supports SME with kernel 6.16 these tests work as expected provided that their dependencies are resolved by dynamic loader to the new version of libgcc.
