'D' command requires reply?

Hello,

according to the documentation (both html and pdf) the 'D' command does
not expect a reply. Having implemented the server side this way I find
that the client still expects a reply, as can easily be verified in the
sources (remote[_async]_detach clearly uses remote_send, which is a
combination of putpkt and getpkt.

Clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated,
