Hello all (I did contribute in the past to GCC but am unfamiliar with GDB internals; my OS is Linux only; computers are AMD64, and I am French). 1. I was able to compile a GDB 16.3 with GNU guile enabled: (gdb) show configuration This GDB was configured as follows: configure --host=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --target=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --with-auto-load-dir=$debugdir:$datadir/auto-load --with-auto-load-safe-path=$debugdir:$datadir/auto-load --with-expat --with-gdb-datadir=/usr/local/share/gdb (relocatable) --with-jit-reader-dir=/usr/local/lib/gdb (relocatable) --without-libunwind-ia64 --with-lzma --with-babeltrace --with-intel-pt --with-xxhash --with-python=/usr --with-python-libdir=/usr/lib --with-debuginfod --with-curses --with-guile --without-amd-dbgapi --enable-source-highlight --enable-threading --enable-tui --without-system-readline --with-separate-debug-dir=/usr/local/lib/debug (relocatable) That home built GDB is on /usr/local/bin/gdb (I would like but don't know how to configure and build it so that it goes into /usr/local/bin/my-gdb ....) I also have a suggestion but don't have the qualification and time to implement it. Have Python-enabled GDB to look for a .gdbinit-python before a .gdbinit, and have Guile-enabled GDB to look for .gdbinit-guile before the .gdbinit. Maybe theere is some why to code a "portable" .gdbinit which could work with a Python-enabled GDB and a Guile-enabled GDB. Regards. NB sorry for my bad English.
