Hello,

The GDB/MI interface seems to have become a defacto standard for
integrating debuggers into a variety of environments. I would like to
see the GDB/MI interface standardized so that debuggers that are built
for heterogenous environments can write to that standard.

In the same way that Dwarf is a standard and C++ is a standard, I
believe that the community at large would benefit. These kinds of
standards are revised and maintained by standards committies that most
often include interested vendors.

I am writing to this list as a starting point for discussions on this.
I would like to get a standards committee going for the MI interface.
While the gdb manual has the interface, there is now "standard" and I
believe this would be beneficial.

Regards,
