There is the Import and Merge tool.

The goal of the tool is that a user creates a Gramps database. The user
sends the database either in its entirety or only a segment of the tree, to
another user using the Gramps XML format. Not GEDCOM. The other user using
Gramps makes modifications and additions and then sends this altered
database back to the original user.

The Import and Merge uses the unique database handles to merge the altered
tree back into the original database. All users must be using Gramps and
the files moving back and forth must be in the native .gramps xml format.

Major caveat: I have never used the tool so you may wish to do some testing
and experimenting on a backup of your master file before embarking on this
method. It would also mean proper file management.
