Go to the menu Family Trees >> Manage Family Trees Select the locked database and attempt to open it. You will be given an option to "Break the lock". After that, the lock should disappear and you should be able to Load the tree. Most locks occur when Gramps has a forcef shutdown/crash. ie. any time the normal shutdown of Gramps does not occur.
