Brian, Then preferred method IS, as Himanshu says, to download & install via the addon/plugin management tools in the Edit (Preferences) and Help (Plugin Manager) menus. However, since you have already downloaded, you can decompress those .tgz files into folders in the gramps51/plugins subfolder of your User Directory. (Your message did not say which OS you are using. So the link below is to a definition of the User Directory and that has a link to how to locate it on the various OSes.) https://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Gramps_Glossary#user_directory Each addon typically goes in its own subfolder. Each time Gramps 5.1.5 starts, it scans the gramps51/plugins folder for Gramps Plugin Registration (*.gpr.py) files, registers the available plugins and makes the valid plugins available. The new Addon Manager for Gramps 5.2 improves browsing available Addons. BTW, I'm using version 5.1.5. Hi Brian, Third-party addons are typically installed via the UI in Gramps. See: https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/5.2_Addons BTW, if you haven't discovered the new users forums on Discourse head on over to https://gramps.discourse.group/ which hosts a very active user community. -- Himanshu -- Gramps-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gramps-users https://gramps-project.org -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... -- Gramps-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gramps-users https://gramps-project.org
