Hello Harvey, > I am running gramps 5.1.6 under OpenSUSE Leap 156 and want to update my > version to the newest. Can I upgrade directly to gramps 5.2.2 (having > backed up my trees, of course!) without going through intermediate > versions? Yes, you can. When you open a 5.1 tree, Gramps 5.2 will tell you that it needs to be upgraded, and if you allow that, it will create a ZIP file containing the database contents before doing the actual upgrade. That ZIP file will be stored in your .gramps folder, and it will stay there until you remove it. May I ask what package you're planning to use for 5.2.2? I tried Leap here, in a VM, and had some problems with that.
