And here the subject field does not contain the spam marker.  If the ML
software were adding the marker, we'd *all* see it.

It is standard practice for spam detection software to insert something
in the Subject header.  It is, however, unusual for it to be added
/after/ a prepended list marker.

As previously suggested, check the account at your email provider to
tweak spam detection settings.  I wouldn't advise turning off spam
detection completely - unless you want genuine mail to be completely
swamped by detritus.
