In Kart og plan nr. 3/2005 there is a comparison of PostGIS and Mapserver against ArcSDE and ArcIMS. The journal and the article are in Norvegian, which I don't read very well, but the conclusion seems positive, i.e. the differences are not big if there are any. If there's a Norvegian among the subscribers who has access to this journal, perhaps she or he could elighten us a bit more?
