Dear FreeGIS List, As of July 1st, 2007, ILWIS is available (as is and free of charge) as the 52°North open source software ILWIS 3.4 Open. The Integrated Land and Water Information System (ILWIS) is a PC-based GIS & Remote Sensing software program developed by ITC. It comprises a complete package of image processing, spatial analysis and digital mapping. ILWIS is easy to learn and use; it has full on-line help, extensive tutorials for direct use in courses and 25 case studies of various disciplines. By migrating to 52°North, ILWIS takes advantage of 52°North's platform for collaborative software development to facilitate the creation and dissemination of new GIS functionality based on ILWIS components within a broader community. All user support is carried by the ILWIS community, which provides up-to-date information regarding ongoing developments. The binaries and source code are published under the GNU General Public License. For more information see '52°North Products' and 'Communities' and register for the ILWIS mailing list at www.52north.org. Best regards, Ann Htichcock ----- Dipl.-Geogr.
