Dear Gmt users, I would like to join in the discussion concerning the " Error ellipse", asking you if someone knows a way, in GMT, to plot 3D error ellipses. I have hypocenters with error bars (in km), along the 3 orthogonal directions, and would like to know if it's possible to plot a 3-dimensional ellipse (through a 3D view) representing, for each hypocenter, the relative error bars. I'm using a script like the following: psxyz epicenters_3D_2.txt -R12.5/13/41.5/41.8/0/30 -Jl13/42/39/45/1:100000 -B0.5g0.5 -Se -E135/15 -Jz1 -W -G250/250/250 -K -O>3D_ellipse_sez.ps but I have, as result, only a 3D view of the ellipses on the horizontal plane. Am I insisting on a result that cannot be obtained or I'm using the wrong procedure? Thank you in advance.
