extracting polygonal subgrid from a larger grid file using gmtselect

Dear All,

I'm wondering if there is a way to extract a polygonal region of interest from a grid file. I used gmtselect, but it seems like it selects only a rectangular grid based on minmax values of polygon file. Is there a way to extract a polygonal grid file instead? I use gmt 5.1 with the following command.

gmtselect input.xyz -Fpolygon.xy > output.xyz
