I'm running into some ghostscript errors running a basic psbasemap command:

psbasemap -Jl-125/70/71.5/73/1:1500000 -B3 -R-141/-115/68/74 -V > map.ps

On the command prompt, the following warnings are printed when I try to
view map.ps with gv:

Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-Helvetica-Medium-R-Normal--*-140-*-*-P-*-ISO8859-1" to type FontStruct
Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-Helvetica-Medium-R-Normal--*-120-*-*-P-*-ISO8859-1" to type FontStruct
Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-Helvetica-Medium-R-Normal--*-100-*-*-P-*-ISO8859-1" to type FontStruct
Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-Helvetica-Bold-R-Normal--*-120-*-*-P-*-ISO8859-1" to type FontStruct
Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-Courier-Medium-R-Normal--*-100-*-*-M-*-ISO8859-1" to type FontStruct

The postscript file is unviewable; gv gives these errors in a pop-up dialog:

Error: /undefined in -nan GPL Ghostscript 9.10: Unrecoverable error, exit
code 1

So is this most likely a problem with my fonts on my system? I am running a
32-bit machine with Linux Mint 16, GMT 4.5.9.

uname -a :

Linux Arctic-GIS1 3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:12:00 UTC

Thanks for any suggestions,
