Joachim: You are awesome. Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon on this! It does not seem that we are all necessarily able to reproduce the exact same behavior but at least under different conditions everyone is at least seeing the buffer overflow error message problem. Shakemap calls grdmath in a million different places. In addition to being called in some scripts it is called by a number of modules in src/lib of Shakemap and in all the GMPE, IPE and GMICE modules and maybe even elsewhere. So it is not practical at this point to include -V everywhere.
