pstext -M how to color background line by line

Dear list, I'm struggling with the coloration of a textbox created with pstext and the -M option. My desired result is seen in the mock-up in image 3. I found no way of doing it inline in the textfile fueling the paragraph. Therefore I'm now experimenting with two separate textboxes placed around the same coordinate. One with the brownish background oriented above and one with a white background oriented below the coordinate. Example image 1 looks almost perfect except for the almost invisible little step between the two boxes. Upon some tinkering and playing with extreme cases (image 2), I found the problem in the width of the content of the white box. pstext expands the box to a fitting width, if the content is wider than the specified width in the textfile. In other circumstances this is a very cool feature to have (and is saving me lots of time and headaches). In this case it destroys my optical illusion. I'd like to have the brownish box at the same width as the white box. Any ideas to obtain the desired look are welcome.
