Why is this not working?

echo "-117 33" | gmt project -C-118/33 -E-116/33 -Lw -Fpq -V
project: Processing input table data
project: 1 read, 0 used

Also tried:
echo "-117 33" | gmt project -C-116/33 -E-118/33 -Lw -Fpq -V
project: Processing input table data
project: 1 read, 0 used
