That is too general for a general script. Instead of trial and error and time wasting, decide what size your various panels should have, decide on what space you wish to have between then, and then use those values to set what -X and -Y values you need. You may find it more convenient to use absolute referencing from lower left page point here (-Xa -Ya) instead of the default relative to previous plot. Of course, if you often need to make matrix plots (e.g., 4 rows with 4 columns of identically-sized plots then you can script that as well using the above approach. Note that if some of these panels are maps then things can become more advanced in that you cannot control map height as it depends on -R -J, but you can still compute map height using the gmt_shell_functions.sh convenience functions. Executive summary: Abandon trial-and-error and compute your positions given your specifications. -p On May 7, 2014, at 7:51 AM, Shahar Barak <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi, > > I often want to plot several maps on one page. > However, I often find myself wasting a lot of time, doing trial and error, to find the correct scale and the correct offsets to fit the maps nice and tight on a single page. Alternatively, I create each map independently, and use Latex to combine the maps into a single-page pdf, however, I still need to deal with playing with the figure size and trimming the edges around the maps to make everything fit. > Do you have a script you could share that might help make this easier? > > Thanks, > > Shahar > Mailing list for GMT discussions of all kinds.
